I am 3rd generation descendant of Wise Family buried in this cemetery which was once part of Wise farm. Over the years and passing of ownership of property and family members scattered everywhere the cemetery was forgotten about. In my case I only became aware of its existence for few a few years. Last attempt to clean up was an organized event by Mr. Johnny Sessions and Sons of Confederate Veterans in March, 2020. This was the onset of COVID-19 when masks and social distancing, etc were mandated thereby preventing any action to be completed. James Wise, Who served in Civil War, is buried in this cemetery.
Due to health concerns and travel distance I am personally unable to attend to the cemetery needs, even though I wish I was physically able to make a difference. Weeds have overgrown and small trees have become larger trees and it is in desperate need of recovery.Added March 26, 2021 by ALlen Wise - ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆
Name is incorrect; historically the cemetery was named "Wise Cemetery" because the site was on the Maddison Wise farm. Maddison and his wife, Blanch, are buried there. Verification of site's name shows it as Wise Cemetery in 1915 when Blanch was buried and and again for McDuffie Soles and Ida Soles also show this site is Wise Cemetery. Soules Cemetery refers only to the site surrounded by Sears chain link fence and included the graves of the Wises and the Soles and was used only after the cemetery was abandoned circa 1934. Death certificate for McDuffie is #4119.
